about

Three extended pieces (banded according to their identifiable segments) created using the patching capabilities of the Soma Pulsar-23.

As usual, I record the improvisations, then edit out the bits I don't like. In editing, I adjust for levels and left-right balance, and sometimes apply a little bit of compression and tape saturation effect; otherwise, the only effects applied are those used while recording.

The Pulsar-23 is ostensibly a drum machine, but the combination of dozens of patch points with Soma's emphasis on the tactile aspects of making music make it capable of a wide variety of sounds and textures, from analog synth percussion to rhythmic pulses, drones, and noise textures. (No, I don't work for them; I'm just an enthusiastic user.)

about

Tinty Music Bellingham, Washington

Fabricating sounds since 1987. Unafraid to rush headlong into obscurity for the sake of art and making sense out of the world. Folds, spindles, and mutilates as needed. Brickwalling not allowed.
