‘I will die’

The source material for this piece is one of the microcassettes that were included with the Panasonic recorder I bought on eBay. I do not know when the tape was recorded, who is speaking, and where or when the recorded conversation took place. I hadn't listened to more than a few seconds of the tape before I started recording. I used the rewind button to produce rough loops of sentence fragments while letting the Soma Cosmos (and the other Soma Cosmos) do its thing, occasionally turning a knob or changing a setting here and there. I then edited for length, and to remove unwanted sounds.

Update (1 December 2022):
I was curious to hear what the recorded conversation might be about. As it turns out, the tape is basically this guy prattling on about venture capital in Michigan for 24 minutes. And what came out as "I will die" for most of this piece is actually "there's this guy in Ann Arbor"—which can be heard later on in the piece, if you listen carefully.

Also, in a somewhat spooky coincidence, yesterday came the news of the death of a relative…

Art is a strange thing sometimes.
